Due:
Directions: Students
will create a cardboard sculpture that is low-relief (is not a sculpture in the
round, but comes off of the surface in a 3-D style),
1.
Sketch an original
image. When sketching, make sure that you are creating opportunities for various
levels in your image. For example, the student piece below creates various
levels through raising some buildings higher than others to create the effect
that some are closer.
2.
Cut a square or
rectangular piece of cardboard for your base. This will be the piece that all
others are pasted on.
3.
Then, trace the outline
of one of your objects that will be raised on another piece of cardboard. Cut
that piece out. Use this piece to retrace and cut more of the same pieces.
Stack these pieces on top of each other until you have your desired height.
Glue these pieces on top of each other.
4.
Continue step 3 until
you have stacked cut outs of all of your intended raised objects. Then, glue
these to the top of the rectangular or square cardboard base.
5.
Finally, color or paint
your piece to reflect your design.
As always, be creative
and challenge yourself.
