Answer One of the Following:
1. Through the “Fourteen Points,” Wilson was attempting to achieve worldwide peace. What
do you think will be necessary now to put an end to war forever? How is achieving peace in
the 21st century different from in 1918?
2. Despite Wilson’s efforts, his hope to establish a League of Nations (an organization with a
similar design to the United Nations, mentioned as Point 14) that would prevent war failed.
The primary reason for its failure was that the U.S. never joined, because the U.S. Congress
would not agree to join. Should Wilson still be applauded for his efforts even though they
ultimately failed? How should we evaluate our leaders?
