This bow is used for corsages as well as other arrangements, attaching to vases, pots, etc! It is the hardest one to get the hang of, but the most used technique!
Advanced has made some videos that are attached, I made a quick video that is attached as well, and will demo in class as well and then post that as well. There is also a slide deck with step by step written directions that is nice to read along with the visualizing it in the videos.
You are going to create 2 of these bows. Take pictures of the 2 completed ones and a video of you creating one of them. You can make more than that to practice in order to get 2 that you are proud of. You can re-do them, you can unwire and re-use wire as well.
5pts for each bow in the picture, and 10 pts for the video = 20 points
You will have tomorrow to practice/work on/finish this same bow as well in class and the whole week to keep working and making it. It is due in a week :) We are also going to be making our Thanksgiving arrangements this week!

We have a very important fundraiser! We have 100 poinsettias reserved to sell this year. We have not been able to do floral orders for events and subscriptions like we normally do so far in 2020. That means that selling poinsettias is very important! There are 56 of you (plus other FFA members, and myself sharing the information with family, friends, and the community) and 100 plants - that means we should be able to sell out easily!
Orders are open now-11/20!
Plants will be ready for pick up starting 12/4
Today's assignment is to post an advertisement! There are 2 posts so far on our FFA Instagram and Facebook Page. You can create a post sharing/reposting them on your own social media pages/stories. Or you can create your own advertisement as well! If you do not have social media - then you can send advertisements to people you know via email, or even print advertisements and post them in the community or give to neighbors, friends, family.
To earn credit for the assignment: submit a screenshot of your social media ads or emails from your sent box, or pictures of your hard copy ad being posted/handed out.
The link for someone to order poinsettias is: bitly.com/lhspoinsettias
Our Facebook is Madera-Liberty FFA
Our Instagram is @madera_libertyffa
Our hashtags are #lhsfloraldesign and #greenandgoldfloralshop
I have also attached the link as well as the advertisements made by the Adv Floral students last week.

This bow will look like your classic shoe string, 2 loop and 2 tail, bow! But you know how you try and try to tie it and it never stays just right? Well WIRE is the answer to that instead of tying it!

This bow is like a cute little flag that can add in a pop of color or create an accent of color for an arrangement or boutonniere or corsage. It is probably the simplest of the 4 that we will be making.

Moving on to that thinner wire to practice!
Cut each of the thinner 22g wires (you should have 3) in half using the wire cutter notch on your shears so that you now have 6 halves.
Each wire gets 1 layer of tape. Take a picture of 5 completed wires, and a video of you completing the 6th one. Put these all in a slide deck with a reflection on the process as well.
Goals: TIGHT, Smooth, Even, Thin taping :)
5 pts per picture, 10 pts for video, 10 pts for reflection = 45 pts
If you get frustrated, take a break, it is ok! Don't just try to rush through to be done. We will keep practicing. You do not need to finish all 6 halves today!
Remember to keep these - we will use them for bow making later this week and next week!

Attached is a folder with videos that Adv Floral students made talking about using floral tape and making floral pens.
You are going to create 2 pens (or pencils, or markers, or highlighters, or even paint or makeup brushes!)
You will take pictures along the way of 1 pen and a video of creating the 2nd one.
Each pen should have 3 tape layers - the first 2 layers run the length of the pen, and the 3rd layer attaches your flower (or leaf, or stem, or accessory)
Take a picture of before/your materials laid out, after layer 1, after layer 2, and after layer 3/flower is finished. Put these pictures in a slide deck so that you can label them. Add a slide at the end talking about how it went using the tape.
Your 2nd pen make while recording the process - add the video into your slide deck as well.
Goals to aim for: your tape should be tight, smooth, and have even angled layers/wraps.
